What is a circumcision?
A circumcision is a minor surgical procedure that removes the foreskin or a sleeve of skin covering the head (glans) of the penis.
The foreskin can trap bacteria, its removal improves genital hygiene. Circumcisions can be performed for medical reasons increased infections, a tight foreskin (phimosis) or religious reasons.
Dr Sheen recommends that it is performed on newborn babies up to four weeks of ago. He can perform the procedure on babies up to 6 months of age, on teens and adults.
Whatever the age or motivation, the key is to make an informed choice that feels right for you. It is known that 20% of males have an issue with their foreskin at some stage in their life.
